Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
1. The short version
We use almost no cookies. The site works without any, everything we store in your browser is for features you use (session, theme, favorites, onboarding answers). The one optional piece is Google Analytics, which is blocked entirely until you press "Accept all" on our cookie banner. We never use advertising cookies, and we never sell data. This page lists everything precisely.
2. Strictly necessary & functional storage (no consent required)
These are entries in your browser's local storage - small key/value pairs kept on your device, not cookies sent with requests. They exist so the site functions and remembers your choices:
| Key | Purpose |
|---|---|
opendoorway_access_token, opendoorway_user, opendoorway_demo_mode | Keeps you signed in (or in demo mode) so you don't have to log in on every visit. |
opendoorway-theme-mode, opendoorway_theme, theme | Remembers your light/dark theme choice. |
opendoorway_lang | Remembers your language choice. |
opendoorway_favorites | Stores the properties you save to Favorites. |
opendoorway_run_search, saved-search keys | Powers saved searches and re-running them. |
od_onboarding, od_onboarding_queue, od_visitor_segment, opendoorway_onboarding | The onboarding wizard's answers and pending sync to our team (answers are intentionally non-personal, interests and goals), plus which intro experience you chose. |
opendoorway_contact_submissions | Local copy of contact-form submissions when the network is unavailable, so nothing you typed is lost. |
opendoorway_api_base, opendoorway_api_key, admin_token, opendoorway_legacy_token | Operator/admin console session and configuration (only if you use those tools). |
od_cookie_consent | Remembers the choice you make on this site's cookie banner. |
Clearing site data in your browser removes all of these; you will be signed out and preferences reset. Because this storage is necessary for the features you request, it does not require consent under the ePrivacy rules.
3. Analytics (only with your consent)
If you press "Accept all" on the cookie banner, we load Google Analytics (Google Analytics 4, property G-Q0EZ0PSC6C) to understand aggregate usage, which pages are read, device types, and approximate regions. Google then sets cookies on your device:
| Cookie | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Distinguishes visitors (random client ID). | Up to 13 months |
_ga_<container-id> | Maintains session state for measurement. | Up to 13 months |
IP addresses are processed by Google in the process. If you press "Essential only" (or choose nothing), the analytics script is never downloaded and no analytics cookies are set. If you accepted and change your mind, use the reset control below and clear your cookies for this site, data collected before withdrawal is retained by Google per the settings above and ages out.
Google's handling of GA4 data: see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
4. What we don't do
- No advertising or retargeting cookies, ours or anyone's.
- No cross-site tracking, no data brokers, no sale of personal information.
- No fingerprinting scripts or third-party chat/marketing pixels.
5. Third-party resources the site loads
Like any site, page loads themselves contact third parties even before any choice: our application is hosted and delivered by Vercel (which sees your IP address as part of serving the request), web fonts are served by Google Fonts, and property-card fallback images may be served by Unsplash. These providers process requests under their own terms; none of them set advertising cookies through our pages.
6. Managing your choices
You are in control:
- Cookie banner - appears on your first visit; "Accept all" enables analytics, "Essential only" keeps them off. Your choice is remembered.
- Reset - clear your choice any time with the button below; the banner will re-appear so you can choose again.
- Browser settings - every browser lets you delete stored data and block storage entirely (the site will still work; you'll just be signed out and preferences reset).
7. Updates & contact
If what we store changes, this page changes with it, the date above always reflects the latest version. Questions about cookies or privacy? Use the contact form (subject: Privacy). See also the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
